About FUSION

Playing forward my twenty years of business building for South Africa's emerging entrepreneurs

FUSION did not start as a product. It started with two decades of running businesses, watching what genuinely helps entrepreneurs grow, and being frustrated by how seldom that help reaches them.

An operating system that changed how I ran a business

I am Bruce Rowe. I have been an entrepreneur for more than twenty years. Along the way I adopted a practical business operating framework that gives a business one shared vision, a small number of priorities that actually get finished, clear ownership for every role, a simple scorecard of numbers, and a meeting rhythm for solving problems at the root rather than repeating them.

I implemented it inside Mpowered and saw what disciplined operating structure does to a growing business. From there I helped several other entrepreneurs embed the same disciplines in their own companies, and watched the same pattern repeat: clarity first, accountability second, growth after that.

What I learned in the B-BBEE and ESD world

Through years of involvement in the B-BBEE sector, I saw how poorly most enterprise and supplier development programmes are executed. Too many of them centre on skills development and knowledge transfer that is neither relatable nor relevant to the entrepreneur sitting in the room or to the business they go back to on Monday morning.

Entrepreneurs were telling me something different. They did not want more training. They wanted a community of other entrepreneurs, because the journey is a lonely one, and they wanted hand holding and ongoing support rather than another certificate.

Why AI became the answer

Delivering that kind of support at scale, and at a cost that makes sense, is not possible with people alone. That is what turned me towards AI.

AI is already taking over much of the work of knowledge based workers, and in many cases it does that work better: faster, more consistently, and without the cost that keeps good advice out of reach for smaller businesses.

The difference in FUSION is context. Because we build up a second brain of the entrepreneur and the business inside the app, every piece of guidance from the FUSION AI Coach and the Expert AI Advisors is relevant to that specific business. It is available at any hour of the day, and it evolves as the entrepreneur and the business evolve.

Eleven years of seeing good development up close

I have also been part of EO for over eleven years. That gave me a long, close view of what genuinely good entrepreneur development looks like: peer learning, honesty, accountability, and people who have walked the road holding each other to it.

I wanted to play that experience forward, to entrepreneurs who will never sit in those rooms.

MEDOS, FRED, and the road back to FUSION

The idea of AI based entrepreneur development came to me more than three years ago, and I began building MEDOS. I then pivoted to FRED, because at the time it mattered deeply to me to build a repeatable, scalable way of teaching entrepreneurship to young people, both in high schools and after school, in under served communities. That is what I have spent the last three years doing.

The need for innovative ways to make great entrepreneur development accessible and affordable never left me. It sits at the centre of my purpose. So three years later I came full circle, and built and launched FUSION.
